That from the 16th of December to the 20th of January, Eleven Sail of Vessels were cast away and lost between Bilboa and Bayonne, mostly laden with Fish, belonging to these Parts ; one of them was a Ship from Newfoundland, for Bilboa : another was a Snow from New-England, for Bilboa, both cast away near St. Anthony's ; these two being at Anchor off said Port, and having long been beating in the Bay, were much disabled, a terrible Sea obliged them to cut their Cables and make a bold Push to get in, but the Storm was so great, that no Pilot or small Craft could get to their Assistance : they both struck on the Bar, and every Soul on board perished. One Brig from some Part of New-England, was cast on shore near St. John's de Luz.
