The Hippodrome.—On Saturday, the grand canopy of the Hippodrome was raised. It was composed of ninety thousand square feet of canvass, and the amount of cordage necessary to secure it would rig a clipper of formidable dimensions. It will, however, require considerable time yet before it will be ready for opening, for the decorations of the interior and the ground work have yet to be completed. The 2d of May is fixed for the opening performance. Franconi, with his troupe of charioteers and other artistes, principally females, is expected by the steamer on this day. Some of the saloons of the Hippodrome were rented last week for $4,000 the season.—N. Y. Express.
