WASHINGTON, D C - Dr. Mordecai W. Johnson, president of Howard University, will deliver the keynote address at the annual four-day program meeting of the Council on Social Work Education.
The meeting, which will be held here at the Statler Hotel, begins Wednesday, January 27th, at 8 p. m.
The School of Social Work at Howard and the National Catholic School of Social Work at the Catholic University of America will serve as hosts to the Council which is made up of nearly 200 social work schools departments, associations, and organizations in the United States, Canada, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.
Dr. Johnson, who will speak on, "Roots of Our Lives Values of Our World" will be the first of five prominent speakers to address the group of some 600 delegates. Other speakers include Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt; Dr. Buell G. Gallagher, president of the College of the City of New York; Dr. Sophie T. Cambria, head of the undergraduate division of social work at New York City's Hunter College; and Dr. Helen R. Wright, dean of the School of Social Service Administration at the University of Chicago. Dr. Wright is also president of the Council.
The annual program meeting will consist of general sessions and workshops devoted to discussions of the future of the social work profession and its role in human affairs. The general sessions will be open to the public.
