An Atlanta Negro man was shotgunned to death in a white neighborhood shortly after midnight Friday by a resident of a house next to the one that he allegedly was attempting to enter, police reported here.
The man was identified through fingerprints as Connie Jackson, whose last known address was on Boulevard NE.
Homicide Squad Detectives J. H. Hasty and J. C. Smith gave the following account on the fatal shooting:
George Brock, 35, white, who lives at 916 Carmel Ave., NE., said his brother, Julian Brock, 39, came into his bedroom and told him that he had seen someone walking across his back yard.
George said that he then went to his window and saw someone at the back side window of the house at 904 Carmel Ave. The brothers then called Charles Turner, Jr., 47, at 904 Carmel and told him that someone was attempting to enter his home police reported.
The detectives said that George told them "I then pointed my shotgun out my middle bedroom window and as the man put down a window screen and turned, I fired." The man was pronounced dead on arrival at Grady. Police records reveal that Jackson had a record of arrests on burglaries dating back to 1940.
