Eastern Airline has initiated a no-reservation shuttle service similar to the operation presently conducted by Caribair between San Juan and the Virgin Islands.

One of the largest carriers Eastern has been stymied by an engineers' strike which started June 23.

Its air-shuttle began late last week, despite the walkout.

Flights are scheduled on the hour leaving New York to points in Boston, Washington and elsewhere.

The airline, which under normal conditions has 1,400 flights daily, is now operating only 64 flights a day.
