We must Elect Them.

The Republicans at the Senatorial and County Conventions presented a ticket of which every citizen can justly feel proud. Our candidates for the Senate, one a hard-working farmer, and the other a highly respectable Physician, are men of the right stamp. Discreet and conservative, yet true as steel upon all the great questions of the day, they will both make excellent legislators, to whom the great and varied interests of our State can be safely confided. We must elect them.

We ask the good citizens of Old Oxford to continue Dr. Brown in the place he now so ably fills. No man doubts his capacity, integrity or faithfulness, then why make a change? The people don't call for it: then why should it be made? Let the people take care of this matter, and not see a faithful public officer be displaced to give place to a partisan.

Col. White has served the people faithfully and acceptably in the office of Sheriff. He has been tried and not found wanting. Roll him up a triumphant majority, and teach the slaveocracy of Maine that fidelity and honesty in a public officer shall not go unrewarded.

Our candidate for Register of Probate is a gentleman every way worthy of our cordial and hearty support. He comes directly from the ranks of the people, and has every necessary qualification to make him an excellent officer. While his competitor was born to wealth and affluence, our friend, David Knape, has manfully struggled against the adversities of life, and earned a reputation which should entitle him to the earnest support of the people of the County.

Gen. Marrow is just the man to make an excellent County Commissioner. Possessed of a vigorous athletic body, a mind matured by the experience of years,--honest in all things, with a sound judgment and spotless integrity, he certainly deserves the vigorous support of the good men of Old Oxford.

Let the people of the county be mindful of their best interests, and be true and elect Gen. Marrow.

For County Treasurer, Deacon Barrows has the highest claims upon the people of this county for their support. With a reputation without a blemish, a heart too honest even to be called in question, with qualifications of the highest order, we trust the people will elect him by a good round majority.

Such, fellow citizens of Old Oxford, is the ticket the Republicans present for your support. You can elect them if you do your duty. Will you do it? Let there be general response, "We will," and the work is done.
