In illustration of the remarks we made yesterday, with regard to the defective system of organizing the volunteer companies which the government are calling for, we may here sub-join, that the Pittsburgh American announces the arrival there of three or four companies of Philadelphia volunteers for the war with Mexico, and adds: "It is a melancholy fact that no arrangements of any kind have been made by the government for the transportation or subsistence of these troops. The Governor has had to assume the responsibility incurred for their transportation—and for their subsistence up to this date, they have had to depend on their own resources and the contributions of individuals. The Quartermaster here says he can do nothing for want of orders; and the government in its disorder and confusion, has omitted to issue any."
