NEW YORK, July 10.

SATURDAY last Capt. Rogers arrived here, in 27 days from Pensacola, by whom we learn that Governour Elliot, who came there lately from England, had departed this life in his garden, in a violent apoplectick fit, of the same kind that the late Sir Danvers Osborne, Bart. died of in this city. It is said Mr. Elliot was a Gentleman of a very amiable disposition, and had acquired the affections of all the inhabitants; but that he seemed to indulge a fatal melancholy, which had brought him to this end, just one month after his arrival.
