FROM NEW-YORK,
Sept. 20.--The report of the Committee on the Salaries of the Judiciary, was taken up yesterday, in the House, and the salaries further curtailed--Chief Justice to $3500--and reduced the Attorney-General to $1500 Dollars. The bill was then sent to the Senate, who raised the Chief Justice to $4000--but the rest were not acted upon. The Bill for confirming the acts of the late Congress for establishing troops in the Western Frontiers was ordered to be engrossed. Further accounts of hostilities by the Indians have been recently received. The AMENDMENTS, as amended by the Senate, were yesterday brought on the carpet and again amended.--What the Senate has done, does not suit--I believe it will be extremely difficult to obtain a coincidence of sentiment on this subject. PERMANENT RESIDENCE business comes on to-morrow--this business does not appear to be in a train for a speedy settlement--still they talk of an adjournment, by the last of next week. The JUDICIAL BILL, as amended by the House, has been returned from the Senate, with a concurrence in all the amendments but four, which it is supposed will be given up by the House. I think the adjournment will take place next Friday. There is such a confidence in the Government, that the needful, I am told, for the present occasion, has been very easily raised. From a computation of the amount of the Impost for two or three years last past--and from the proceeds in some of the Custom-Houses, it is estimated that the Impost will net 2,500,000 dollars per annum. The Civil List expenses, including Executive, Legislative and Judicial, is estimated at $350,000 dollars per ann. In Philadelphia, I am told, the Collection has been in the first month after the Impost Law took effect, $55,000 dollars--In this city upwards of $42,000. And the second month will be much greater.
New-York, Sept. 24. The President made the following Nominations to the Hon. Senate, of Judicial Officers--which the Senate will take into consideration to-morrow.
The nominations for New-York and New-Jersey are not yet made:--viz.

John BLAIR, Virginia.

DISTRICT JUDGES.
Maine, Hon. David Sewell. N. Hampshire, John Sullivan. Massachusetts, John Lowell. Connecticut, Richard Law. Pennsylvania, Francis Hopkinson. Delaware, Gunning Bedford. Maryland, Thomas Johnson. Virginia, Edward Pendleton. S. Carolina, Thomas Pinckney. Georgia, Nathaniel Pendleton. Kentucky, Henry Innes.
ATTORNEYS,
Maine, William Lithgow. N. Hampshire, Samuel Sherburne. Massachusetts, Christopher Gore. Connecticut, Pierpoint Edwards. Pennsylvania, William Lewis. Delaware, George Read, jun. Maryland, Joseph Potts. Virginia, John M'Whirter. S. Carolina, Jas. F. Pringle. Georgia, Matt. McAllister. Kentucky, George Nicholas.
MARSHALS.
Maine, Henry Dearborn. N. Hampshire, John Parker. Massachusetts, Jonathan Jackson. Connecticut, Philip Bradley. Pennsylvania, Clement Biddle. Delaware, Allen M'Lane. Maryland, Nathaniel Ramsay. Virginia, Edward Carrington. S. Carolina, Isaac Huger. Georgia, Robert Forsyth. Kentucky, Samuel M'Dowell.
The Attorneys and Marshals have no salaries.
The amendments by compromise between the two Houses, will, I expect get through. The Senate have this day struck out "Susquehannah" in the Residence Bill. and inserted "Germantown, near Philadelphia," with this condition, that the buildings be erected free of expense to the Union. This, I think is making a more eligible situation and a better bargain. I somewhat expect that Congress will not be up until the middle of next week.
