The report of arrests made by the St. Louis police force during the month ending December 31, 1873, shows 123 State cases-161 males and 22 females. The number of city cases is 1,273-1,025 males and 248 females. The majority of the latter cases were for being drunk on the street. The increase over the previous month in the grand total is 148. There were 240 persons sent to the workhouse during the month. Ninety-seven horses, 28 mules and three cows were recovered and restored to their owners; 160 nuisances were found and 166 abated. The amount of stolen money and the valuation of stolen and estray property recovered and restored to owners during the month was $24,893.45.
