The University. The Board of Trustees organized recently at Jackson, by the election of Hon. A. M. Clayton as President. We learn by the Jackson papers that the edifices will be commenced as soon as the State Treasury is in a condition to "pony up" the $95,000 and interest due the college fund. For the benefit of new comers, we will state that the College is located at Oxford, Lafayette co. by act of the Legislature. A very large sum of money was known as the "Seminary Fund," but where the most of it has gone to, no man knoweth with certainty. A special commissioner is now looking for it; and some rusty old clod-hoppers in the Legislature have conjectured that the money was squandered in champagne "sprees" by the swelled-head favorites of the Planters Bank, and some of the whilome dignitaries of the State. "From the lights before us" we incline to the belief that these old codgers conjecture rightly. But they should mind, or they will tread on somebody's tender toes, or at least wound the tender sensibilities of some of the aforesaid dignitaries or swelled-heads.
