Full Text

To the Editors of the Kentucky Gazette.

I attended at the Baptist meeting at Elkhorn on the 10th inst. and was highly gratified to observe that patriotic enthusiasm which was mingled there with religious devotions. Such a display of ardor for the cause of our country I have not witnessed since the revolutionary war. They seemed indignant at the proposition for stopping the mail on Sunday at this important crisis. The service was concluded by reading the 8th chapter of the first book of Samuel which gives a full and true account of the blessings of kingly government. I should be glad that all free people would attend to the excellent advice contained in that interesting chapter. Then their motto would be "LIBERTY OR DEATH."
