In Scholarship
Competition

Three members of the graduating class of Community High School have been commended for their outstanding performances on the recent Merit Scholarship competition.

The three are all boys: William Crawford, Walter Janowski and Terrence Russell. In announcing the letter praising the scholastic achievements of the three, Clarence Ames, principal of the senior class, pointed out that such a letter indicated that the boys would rank in the top one or two percent in scholastic ability throughout the state.

The letter pointed out that while the boys did not quite reach the finals of the recent Merit Scholarship competition, each had demonstrated highly superior ability and outstanding promise to benefit from college training. It closed with the statement: "Our country needs more able people like these."
