The condition attached to the gift of Col. Perkins's mansion in Boston for the use of the Institution of the Blind—that $50,000 should be raised by individual subscriptions—promises to be speedily realized. The sum of twenty thousand dollars has been already subscribed in Boston, and the Fairs in that city and Salem will produce it is estimated, about fifteen thousand more—making thirty-five thousand dollars in all, and leaving but fifteen thousand to be raised.
At the Boston Fair, a gentleman enclosed three hundred dollars to one of the ladies, requesting her to invest the amount in a pen-wiper.
