Reporters Wanted To Get Story And Petitioned Court

(By Associated Press.)

New York, Feb. 5.—The zeal of newspaper men to get past the doors which separated them from the testimony in the divorce suit of Geraldine Farrar, the former opera star, against Lou Tellegen, the actor, caused a postponement of the hearing. The newspaper men sent Referee Mahoney a plea for admittance, which so moved him that he announced that the hearing would be continued publicly unless Supreme Court Justice Coplan, who referred the case to him, ruled otherwise. He then postponed the hearing so that attorneys for the stage celebrities could put the question of secrecy up to the court.
