The Squirrels Were In It.

A good story is told on a Fredericksburg gentleman who attended the unveiling of the Hill monument at Richmond. Being a little wearied he sat down on one of the benches in the Capitol park. Previously he had bought a bag of peanuts, which he put in his pocket. In a short time he fell asleep. The many passers-by were attracted by the novel sight of dozens of squirrels that had been attracted by the smell of the nuts diving in and out of his pockets, sitting on his shoulders and knees quietly cracking and eating the nuts.
