Full Text

Good Coming Out in Nazareth. - The New Jersey Constitutional Convention, now revising the fundamental law of that rather notorious State, seems to have at last awakened to a sense of duty in the matter of reform and progress. One day last week, they adopted the proposed amendment enabling the Governor to veto separate items in an incidental bill without defeating the whole. An amendment was also adopted, disqualifying a member of Congress or Federal office-holder from occupying the gubernatorial chair and forbidding the election of a Governor to the United States Senate, or his acceptance of any Federal appointment during his incumbency. This will be looked upon as hard ruling by ambitious politicians, but its carrying out will undoubtedly tend to purify the present system of politics in that State.
