Meeting of Board of Supervisors.
—A special meeting of the Board of Supervisors for Ohio county, was held yesterday at the Court House, at 10 o'clock A. M.
Present—W. P. Wilson, President; C. M. Cooper, Alexander M. Jacob, Benoni S. Good, John Hamilton, Jas. M. Alexander, Henry Wallace—7.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted.
The President then stated that the principal object of the meeting was to regulate the salaries of the several officers of the county, that business having been inadvertently omitted at the last meeting of the Board.
An ordinance was then offered and passed, which prescribes the following salaries to county officers: Prosecuting Attorney, $1000; Clerk of Board, $500; Sheriff, $800; Clerk of Circuit Court, $200; Recorder, $100; Jailor, $60.
The above salaries to be allowed from the 20th of June last.
Several bills were disposed of. It was then, on motion, ordered that hereafter the Clerk notify all the members of the Board, in writing, of all future meetings. It was also ordered that he procure one hundred posters to be distributed throughout the county, for the purpose of notifying the people of the coming election on Oct. 25th.
A petition from J. L. Bedillion, asking that he be relieved from working at his own expense the road in Pleasant Valley, on the property formerly owned by Abram Bedillion, running from the National Road to Wheeling Creek, and that the same be made a public road, was read and granted.
An order, passed at a former meeting, exempting the Northwest Virginia Agricultural Association from taxation was read, whereupon it was ordered that the grounds used as Fair Grounds by said Society, and assessed in the name of F. R. Armstrong, trustee, be exempted from taxation.
The following resolution was also passed:
That the place of voting in Triadelphia Township be removed from its present location to Frederick Hver's tavern, at the west end of Triadelphia.
The Board then adjourned, to meet on the 6th day of November next.
