Full Text

A Good Thing From Amos Kendall.—It has not been often that we have heard any thing good of Amos: but an anecdote is related of him that we think will pass.

Whilst he was Postmaster General, the people of one of the upper counties of this State petitioned for the establishment of a new Post Office, to be located between two localities called by the rather odious names of 'Polecat' and 'Stinking Quarter.' The applicants being unable to agree among themselves as to the name of their new post office, referred that point to Mr. Kendall.—

He promptly established the office, and called it 'Hartshorn,'
