Maine. The Legislature of Maine is in session. R. P. Dunlap, Esq. is chosen President of the Senate, and E. Hutchinson, Esquire, Secretary. J. Ruggles, Esq. is chosen Speaker of the House, and J. L. Child, Esq. Clerk. A Committee was appointed to employ a person to assist in drafting the laws and resolves. The Clergymen of Portland have agreed to officiate as Chaplains, in rotation, according to seniority.--The votes for Governor were 21,063, and E. Lincoln, Esq. had 20,680. Gov. Lincoln has delivered a speech. He recommends the improving the intercourse with Canada--the making of new Roads, and attracting settlers to the wild lands.--He says Canal Communications can easily be made with the St. Croix, the St. John, and the St. Lawrence.
