Full Text
An Elopement.
For a few days past the neighborhood in the eastern part of the town of Grafton, in this county, has been in the enjoyment of a sensation in the shape of the elopement of a couple of love-smitten individuals— one a young man by the name of Jacob Kahler, the other a Mrs. Redloff, a wife and the mother of four children. It seems that an intimacy has existed between the individuals named for some time past which was anything but creditable to the woman's chastity, and which, one day last week, while Mr. Redloff was absent to a raising, culminated in the twain suddenly leaving for parts unknown. Previous to leaving, Mrs. Redloff possessed herself of $500 in money which belonged to her husband, and of a deed of the farm, which her husband had had made in her name previous to going into the army. As soon as the deserted husband discovered the "situation," he procured the services of an officer and immediately started in pursuit of the "fair but false one." He overhauled her in Milwaukee, and made her disgorge the money and re-deed the farm to him. After these negotiations were closed up, Mr. R. gave her $40 of the money she had taken, and then told her to "go to the devil,"—Ozaukee Advertiser.
