4-H CALF CLUBS VIE FOR HONORS

More Than 50 Animals Exhibit on J. Wirt Willis' Coweview Farms, Glasgow

MISS M. CLEMENS WINS

More than 50 entries were shown in the fifth annual New Castle County 4-H Calf Club Show which was held Saturday at J. Wirt Willis' Coweview Farms at Glasgow.

Miss Mildred Clements, of Glasgow, carried off the highest honors with her 2-year-old Jersey cow. More than 250 persons from Delaware and nearby Pennsylvania and Maryland attended the show and Dr. Devoe Meade, of the University of Maryland judged the animals. The sweepstakes prize was awarded to Miss Clements and the champion showman prize was awarded to Lewis Haggerty, of Newark, with his Guernsey cow. The fitting prize was won by Miss Clemens. Other awards were as follows:

Jerseys—Cow two-year or over, first, Mildred Clements; senior yearling heifers, Dorothy Cornell, Glasgow; junior yearlings, J. Wirt Rheuby, Glasgow; senior calf Joseph Mitchell, 4th, Hockessin; junior calf, Hannah R. Mitchell, Hockessin.

Guernseys—Cow two years or over, Lewis Haggerty, Newark; senior yearlings, Anna Haggerty, Newark; junior yearling, Jane Spatts, Newark; senior calf Lewis Haggerty, junior calf, George Lynam, Newark. Lynam also won the championship for the Guernsey breed.

Holstein-Friesian Cow two years or over, Earl Roberts, Middletown; junior yearling, Charles Nelson, Newark; senior calf, Earl Roberts; junior calf, Thomas Keim, Delaware City.

Ayrshires—Cow two-years or over, John T. Wilson, Jr., St. Georges.

The following dairymen of the county had charge of the arrangements for the show: J. Wirt Willis Glasgow; J. D. Reynolds, Middletown; F. Ed. Hitchens, Newark; L. T. Staats, Newark; Paul Mitchell, Hockessin; P. D. Folwell, Newark; G. C. Gilmore, Newark; J. A. Correll, Bear; R. R. Case, Wilmington, and County Club Agent G. M. Worrilow, Newark.
