The Detroit Free Press, after copying from our paper the result of the late election in this State, and in Connecticut, says—
By comparing the results of the election in the above two states, it will be seen that the democracy have an aggregate popular majority in both of over FOUR THOUSAND. Add to this Morton's majority for governor in Massachusetts last fall, and then deduct the aggregate whig majorities at the last elections in Vermont and Rhode Island, and it will yet leave an aggregate democratic majority of about TWO THOUSAND in New England.
The Press has not given the New England Democracy their full due. Maine is one of the New England States, and a right clever one she is too (maugre the defamation of Mrs. Victoria Coburg's imps both sides of the Big Pond.) Her majority for Fairfield, at the last election, was something over Six THOUSAND, which added to the Two THOUSAND given above, makes the Democratic majority in New England EIGHT THOUSAND strong.
