CHICAGO- The African-American Heritage Association has appealed to President Kennedy immediately to withdraw recognition of the government of the Union of South Africa and to break diplomatic relations with that government. In a letter to the President, signed by the National Director of Organization of the Association, the Union Government was characterized as "racist, fascist, anti-African, anti-human and Hitler-like." The letter suggested that a large section of citizens of African descent resented "being taxed by the government of the United States when some of the benefits from these taxes go towards helping the racist, anti-African, anti-human government of South Africa." The letter also was signed by Charles Freeman, Chairman of the African Affairs Committee of the Association.
