SUBTERRANEAN QUAKE THREW UP PINNACLE WRECKED ALEUTIAN

SEATTLE, June 4, (AP)--A submarine earthquake that caused an upheaval of the floor in Uyak Bay is blamed for the wreck of the S. S. Aleutian. Captain Nord and other officers testified at the investigation by the United States Steamboat Inspectors and the testimony showed that the Aleutian struck a rock where the charts showed a depth of 168 to 294 feet.

The rock was unknown to navigators. The quake is thought to have thrown up the unknown pinnacle.
