Judge Warns Boys
At an informal hearing in the juvenile department of the district court at Cut Bank recently, Judge R. M. Hattersley gave warnings to small boys of this community, who during the fore part of July wilfully destroyed window glass of the high school building.
Parents of the youngsters involved in the act, who had been subpoenaed to appear at the hearing, were also instructed by Judge Hattersley to invoke a more stern discipline upon their children.
Other officials who took part in the proceedings were County Attorney Wilbur Werner and Probation Officer Clara Withee.
Judge Hattersley talked to each of the small boys, pointing out the necessity of respect for property, which included public property such as that of the school district.
He pointed out to each boy his duty towards teachers and other authorities.
He explained the costliness of mischief such as of the school window glass breaking.
He made an appeal to parents and guardians of the children who were held responsible for the window glass breaking, proposing that restitution to the amount they conscientiously believed to be their share be made.
