Capital Jottings.

The cold breath of the Northwest
struck here last night to remind us
that winter was still lingering.

Coal and wood dealers are the
most contented of all our business
men.

This is the season for bad roads,
and those who are compelled to travel
over them are continually complaining
of the wear and tear to their
vehicles.

The snow which mantled the earth
in its fleecy robes yesterday soon disappeared.

Many of the pavements about
town are in dreadful condition, and
should be attended to by property
holders.

"The bottom has certainly dropped
out of this winter," said a gentleman
this morning, and we thought so too.
