—"The 19th Inst. the English Fleet look'd into the Harbour of Louisbourg, and discovered the French Fleet laying there. [A List of which is here inserted.] On the 20th, being a little foggy, the Windsor went to look in, and not seeing any of the French Ships, the whole Fleet put away immediately for Halifax, and arrived the same Day Week they sailed from hence.—The Men of War have received Orders to be in Readiness to sail at an Hour's Warning.—Rear Admiral Sir Charles Hardy has hoisted his Flag on board the Invincible, which is by far the best in the Squadron."
The following is an exact LIST of French Men of War in the Harbour of Louisbourg, on the 20th of August last, commanded by a Vice and Rear Admiral, and two Chef d'Escadre.
Five of the above Ships arrived from Martinico the 20th or 21st of July; those from Brest arrived 2 or 3 Days after the Ships from Martinico, and those from Toulon about 4 Days after the Ships from Brest.
Besides the Troops that were in Louisbourg before the Arrival of the Fleet, four more Regiments came with it from France, viz. That of Berry, D'Artois, Bourgogne and Maille.
