At a Conference of Delegates of the Federalists of the different parts of the state of Pennsylvania, held at Carlisle, on the 25th and 26th September 1812.

JAMES RIDDLE, Esq. of Chambersburgh, was appointed Chairman, and William Wilkins, Esq of Pittsburgh, Secretary.

The following resolutions were unanimously adopted:

Resolved, That it is at this time inexpedient to nominate a Federalist as President, to be supported at the ensuing election.

Resolved, That it be recommended to the Federal Republicans of Pennsylvania, to support any electoral ticket consisting of persons opposed to the measures of the present administration and professing a determination to vote for a candidate who will earnestly and sincerely endeavor to restore peace as soon as possible on safe and honorable terms, who will conduct the existing war during its continuance, by a fair and able employment, on constitutional principles, of all the means and force of the nation, who will protect the commercial rights and interests of the people, and who will exert the powers confided to him with a just regard to the dignity of the government, the established rights and liberty of the citizens, and the permanent honor and safety of the country.
