MY COTTAGE HOME.

The lovely vines are wreathing,
Around my mossy cottage tree;
The woodbine fragrance breathing,
Tells, oh, home! of thee;
Amid the bright and glossy leaves,
Blooms the pure snowy bay—
I wish me in my cottage home,
But that is far away!

Oh! far, far-off home—how brightly
Thy scenes before me rise—
And there in visions nightly,
My busy fancy flies:
My mother's gentle tones I hear,
My sisters too, so "bright and gay"—
I wish me in my cottage home,
But that is far away!

No other land so fair can be,
As thou to me so dear:
The lovely sky may bend above,
And heaven be just as near;
But the love I bear thee—cherished home,
Can never know decay—
I wish me in my cottage home,
But that is far away!
