B&N OFFICER RETIRES

J. A. Waggener, retiring vice president of the Bauxite & Northern Railway Company, was honored at a banquet attended by about 70 friends and business associates at the Riverdale Country Club in Little Rock Friday, January 6.

In appreciation for his services, $500 worth of defense bonds were presented to Mr. Waggener, who was also presented with a souvenir book of letters from his friends and associates.

Mr. Waggener began his career in the ALCOA Mining Division at Bauxite. He left this work to serve in World War I, and was discharged with the rank of second lieutenant. He returned to ALCOA's service first in Arkansas, and next in Dutch Guiana, South America.

On his return to the United States, he entered the Railroad Division of ALCOA - the Bauxite & Northern. Several years ago, he became vice president of the B&N.

During his last two years of service, he not only was vice president of that facility, but also was Assistant to the President in Charge of Coordinating Operations and Maintenance of Way for the three southern railroads.

Mr. Waggener will make his home in Little Rock.
