It would seem from the following extracts taken from the Minneapolis papers that the Fourth of July excursionists feel pretty well over their trip. The following are items taken from the report of the Sentinel:

The grounds presented quite a gay and lively appearance, and as the time approached for the afternoon amusements to begin, the crowd was quite as large as could be expected. A large crowd of Salina citizens, together with a procession of the 'Relief' Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, equipped in beautiful uniforms, came to the grounds and made themselves quite agreeable, much to the satisfaction of the Minneapolis boys who shall always remember the kindness shown them by the boys.

The party then formed in line and marched to town, to arrive just in time to see the long string of covered cars 'pulling out' for home.

However it did not come, and the boys were prevailed on to stay by his honor Mayor Berg, and his associates, Hon. John Foster, city attorney; Mr. A. B. Dickenson, chief of the fire department; Mr. David Addison, foreman of the Babcock extinguisher.

In the evening the band played for the opening of the grand ball given at the Opera House, which was a most enjoyable affair, participated in by quite a number of the young folks of Salina.

All enjoyed themselves hugely, and will long remember their trip and the kindness of the Salina people, which will be reciprocated with much pleasure should the Minneapolis people ever have the opportunity.

The following items are from the Minneapolis Independent:

The excursionists formed a procession, headed by the Minneapolis Band, and marched immediately to Oak Dale Park, which by the way is a lovely place, and the citizens of Salina may well feel proud that they have such an excellent place for picnics, fairs, etc.

After learning that several hundred people from Minneapolis had arrived, the citizens of Salina turned out after dinner, headed by the Fire Company in uniform, and Knights of Pythias in regalia, marched to the park.

After the game of ball was ended the procession was formed, headed by the band, and marched back to the city. It being after the time to return we immediately pulled out for home. The Band boys went up town, and got let. The city authorities took them in charge, however, and treated them handsomely, expenses to everything being all paid.

Salina is the boss town of the west. Its citizens are industrious, energetic, enterprising and patriotic. They have fine public buildings, also private buildings, and the town is growing steadily. We were more than pleased with our trip, and wonder if we shall ever have the opportunity to visit Salina again.
