Mr. Wilkes having been so unsuccessful in his endeavours to gain preferment by his writings, is now determined to make trial of his abilities as an orator: his intention is to turn travelling preacher, for which purpose he is now under the tuition of the Rev. Dr. W---: and a very costly and commodious pulpit is making for him by the company of joiners, which is to be ornamented with Basso Relievo of Lord Halifax: in imitation of the Rostra of Rome, which were ornamented with the stems, or fore fronts, of the ships of the ancients whom they had overcome. He intends to deliver his first oration in St. George's Fields, when he will illustrate and make his observations on the tragedy that was acted there.
