Sheldon Boy Accidentally Shot Friend.

Lawrence A. Trudeau of Sheldon, aged 22 years, was accidentally shot and instantly killed a little before 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by Benjamin Bashaw, at the home of Byron Woodworth near East Sheldon, where he was visiting for a few days. The funeral was held in the Congregational church Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, The Rev. James Coffin, rector of Grace Episcopal church officiating. The funeral was held in the Cong'l church, owing to the bad condition of the roads in the vicinity of the Episcopal church.

The accident was the outgrowth of a boyish frolic, the lad who did the shooting, who was fifteen years old, being made to believe by the other young men, Mr. Trudeau and Carl Woodworth, son of Byron Woodworth, that there were burglars about the place. His feelings were so aroused that when Trudeau appeared around the corner of the house, wearing a mask, Bashaw fired a 22 calibre rifle without taking any particular aim. He intended to fire up in the air but the bullet struck Trudeau, who was about six rods away, over the right eye, killing him instantly.

Besides his parents, Mr. Trudeau is survived by a sister, Mrs. J. O. Kimball of Enosburgh Falls, and two brothers, Eugene W. and Rand C., both of Sheldon.

Bashaw, who works for Mr. Woodworth, is overcome by the death of his friend.
