TYPHOON HITS CENTRAL LUZON

MANILA, P. I. - A typhoon wrought destruction in several provinces of central Luzon today.

Extensive property damage, especially to sugar cane, was reported.

Manila was virtually isolated, and communication with 13 provinces had been cut off.

Ships congested the harbor, fearing to put to sea. The President Madison maneuvered the entire day toward the pier.

An Australian line tanker was swept from its moorings by a terrific wind during a deluge of rain. The ship crashed into the pier. Narrowly averting collisions with other vessels in the harbor.

A navy seaplane was wrecked by the storm.
