Full Text

On Saturday Morning last, his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, attended by several Persons of Distinction, set out from Bath to make a Visit to the Right Hon. the Lord Bathurst, at his Seat at Cirencester in Gloucestershire, about 20 Miles from Bath; where he arrived that Afternoon at 5 o'Clock, amidst the loud Acclamations of the People. The Wool-Combers of Cirencester, with a Person at the Head of them, who represented Bishop Blaze, with blue Caps, Aprons, and other Ensigns of their Business, attended by many Hundreds of People, met his Highness about 3 Miles out of Town, and all walked before him to my Lord's Seat, where there were extraordinary Preparations made for his Reception. His Highness stayed with his Lordship till Yesterday Morning, when he returned again to Bath: During his Stay, there were great Rejoicings in the Town, as ringing of Bells, Bonfires, and other Illuminations both Night and Day; and his Royal Highness seemed exceedingly well pleased with the Respect that was paid to him wherever he passed. His Highness was visited by all the Gentlemen of Fortune round the Country. Such Rejoicings were never known in that Town before; and nothing could have occasioned this, but the Presence of so great a Visitor.
