Extract of a letter from Portsmouth, July 8.

"Wednesday an express arrived with dispatches for Boston, to be conveyed by the Alderney sloop. The ship was then fitting in the harbour, and had neither guns or scarcely any thing else on board; but the people working on her all night, she was got ready the next day, when she sailed, without anchoring at Spithead.

Same day, agreeable to orders from the navy board, 92 people were discharged from the dockyard. None of the others are yet gone to work, but are making fresh petitions, addressed to the inhabitants, &c. of this and the adjacent towns."
