School Land Maps.

Governor Toole has returned from a trip to Washington, where he went to look after the matter of securing duplicates of the township plats in the hands of the United States land commissioner. It was necessary to secure these plats in order to carry out the law providing that the state board of land commissioners should have maps made of school lands showing their character and value. Gov. Toole arranged with Commissioner Carter so that one-half of the $500 appropriated by congress for making photo-lithographic plats of Montana works may be used for the purpose stated. The maps will be ready in three months, and the state will save about $9000 by the suggestions of Mr. Carter.
