TRAIN GOES IN RIVER AND TWO MEN DROWNED

Mail Clerk and Fireman Believed to Have Drowned as Great Northern Mail Train Plunges Into River

SEATTLE, Dec. 12—Samuel E. Hilorman, mail clerk, and George Giving, fireman, are believed to have drowned when a Great Northern fast mail train plunged through a bridge undermined by the high water of Miller river, forty miles east of Everett early Sunday. John Carey, engineer, was rescued by J. Beach, a King county game warden, who waded to him and towed him ashore.

The engine and five cars went into the river, one car staying on the bridge.
