PANTHER JUMPED ON A LIVE WIRE PUT THE VICTORIA STREET CAR AND ELECTRIC LIGHT SERVICE OUT. BUT WAS INSTANTLY KILLED.

Victoria, B. C., May 21.-The body of a large panther, which tied up the street car and electric light service in Victoria Thursday, when the animal jumped on the high tension wires, was turned over to a taxidermist for mounting, today. The animal had crawled along the edge of a steep cliff, underneath which runs the wire from the Gold Stream power station to Victoria. From the cliff the animal jumped directly on the wires, and its weight tore them from the insulators, and shut off the power. The panther was instantly killed.
