Full Text

We hear that on the twelfth instant a man was found dead (supposed to be murdered) about four rods from the road leading from Great-Barrington, in the county of Berkshire, and about a mile from Col. Elijah Williams's Iron-Works. His body was found about eight rods from his clothes, very much eaten by vermin, and appeared to have been a person in good circumstances he was of middling stature, had black curled hair, a fine blue broad-cloth coat, new buff breeches, a striped waistcoat, stone sleeve buttons, and a very fine holland shirt, but is unknown as well as the murderer; though we hear that Deacon Brown of Stockbridge says, that the former was lately at his house with a sum of money (as he knew the clothes) and that at the same time there was also an Old England man in his house that went off a little before the deceased; and it is supposed the same man, by description is now at Simsbury in Connecticut; for such a person there has lately enquired of a Berkshire man whether there was not a man found dead near Deacon Brown's aforementioned: which enquiry was prior to his being found. It is supposed he had been murdered about five or six weeks.
