Full Text

Extract of a letter from London.

"On Tuesday, 24th December, there was a warm debate in the House of Commons, what should be done with the rebellious Americans; for it is the general opinion that your opposition has led you into measures rather too licentious, though God knows I am no friend to the Stamp Act. Mr. G-----v-----lle was excessively warm on the occasion, and urged that a large force be sent out to destroy you; to my amazement 29 of the present Members concurred with him, but there were 80 Members who warmly opposed those measures; and you may rest satisfied that every thing will be settled to your satisfaction very soon."
