Oct. 9. Of all the foreign Ministers at Constantinople, the Swedish is the most caressed. Never was a Chris- tian there treated with so much respect and esteem: The whole city is full of the great King of Sweden, and the powerful diversion made by his arms in favour of the Porte. "For our sake, cry the Musselmen, Sweden, whom we might expect both climate and religion would render the friend of Russia, stands forward to fight our battles. Divine Prophet! It is thy powerful interposition which thus engages the hearts of the Swedes from the Russians, for the benefit of the Faithful!" This self-same Mohammed is a powerful negotiator in the opinions of his deluded followers.
