Advice to the Lovelorn

By Beatrice Fairfax
(Authority on Problems of Love and Marriage)

LET THIS EX-GIRL FRIEND ALONE

Dear Beatrice Fairfax:
I'm in love with a girl who is married. At one time she and I were planning to be married ourselves and it's my fault that we're not, because I went away to take a job and began running around with other girls in the city where I was and broke off with that first girl, so she married this other man.
Now I realize what a mistake I made and that I really love her very much and it breaks my heart to think of her being married to someone else. It seems all wrong to me and that we really belong together, and somehow I have an idea that she feels the same way. So what should I do?
Albert J.

Dear Albert J.:
Do I really have to tell you that you should do absolutely nothing at this point? That since you once had your chance to marry this girl and threw it away you'd be doing something very wrong to try and revive her interest now? What you say about thinking she may still love you is probably just wishful thinking on your part. For all you know she's perfectly happy and would bitterly resent any intrusion on your part.
Give this thing the chance to drift out of your mind by going resolutely about your own business and by entering wholeheartedly into social life with your friends-which is the best way to find a new girl friend.
