Full Text

Rome, Aug. 22. The last Letters from Corsica advise, that after the Actions mentioned in our former, King Theodore left his Palace to go to Monda, and afterwards to Cosenza, where a Bark just then arrived with Arms and Ammunition for his Service. This seasonable Relief has made him pass for a Man of his Word, and healed up all Breaches between him and the murmuring Corsicans. Having therefore got together a Body of 3000 Men, he marched towards Calenzana, in order to lay waste that Territory, in Case it should refuse to submit to him. And if he succeeds in this Attempt, he proposes to besiege Bastia in Form; and should he become Master of that Capital, all that Part of the Island which lies on this Side of the Mountains will be entirely at his Devotion.

Last Wednesday a Courier passed thro' this City, going from Spain to Naples, and told us, that the Troops on board the Transports at Barcelona amounted to 25,000 Men; but for what Expedition they are designed, he could not tell,

'Tis no longer doubted that King Theodore is set to work by the Court of Spain; since we have received certain Advice that 4000 Soldiers, with a great Quantity of Ammunition and Artillery, have been shipped off to Corsica from Alicant and Barcelona.
