Out of nine applicants for the Presidency of Broaddus, made vacant by the resignation of Prof. Reynolds, the Board of Trustees on Friday last after three months careful inquiry into the qualifications and record of each aspirant, unanimously elected Prof. H. A. Liebig, President of Broaddus, to take effect at close of present school year.
Prof. Liebig is a full graduate of Ann Arbor and has spent several years in a special course in a German University. Dr. Angell, Pres't. Ann Arbor, and Prof. D'boge, Dean, of the University speak in the highest terms of Mr. Liebig's scholarship and manliness, as does also Dr. Strong, of Rochester, N. Y., and others.
Mr. Liebig has taught Latin, Greek and German for two years at Vermont Academy, one of the best Academies in New England, and Dr. Williams, the Pres't., testifies that he managed his department very satisfactorily and endeared himself to the faculty, students and people of the town.
He has taught also two years at Mt. Pleasant, Pa., Institute, and the President, Dr. Leray Stephens, bears equally strong testimony to his efficiency. Here, Dr. Stephens being in the field much of the time raising endowment, Mr. Liebig was practically acting Principal.
The work done the past year by Prof. Blair acting Pres't, is highly appreciated by the Trustees who have placed on record resolutions setting forth that fact.
