CHASKA, Feb. 13, 1855.
As some of your readers may not know of the important fact that the new road to Fort Ridgely, on the north side of the Minnesota river, has just been completed through, and as it may save those who are travelling up to the Fort or its neighborhood some twenty or twenty-five miles by taking the new route, to that end I inform you of the circumstance. Strong bridges have been built and placed wherever any were needed between Walker's Landing and Bloomington by Mr. Allen of this place. Teamsters who have come down on the road from Henderson and the Fort, say that the roads all through are good; there are no hills to surmount, as on the old road on the south side of the Minnesota.
The Indians who are encamped in this neighborhood have of late been less troublesome.
George Fuller's (of the firm of D. L. Fuller & Company of your city) new warehouse has just been completed. It is a large and spacious building, being 26 feet wide by 36 feet long, two stories high, and capable of storing a large amount of freight.
The same party, I am informed on good authority, intends putting up this coming spring a large and commodious hotel. A good hotel is much needed here.
It gives me pleasure to say, that our young town can also boast of having a post-office.
Yours, &c.,
