Full Text
The United Singing Convention is one Atlanta club that realizes a sense of responsibility to the community other than supplying it with social activity. Every year the members of this group give 100 percent to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. They believe, according to the president, J. T. Grisson, that money used in joining the NAACP is not "a gift", but is one way of helping to "buy freedom for the Negro race."
Mr. Grisson last week brought $28.00 to the NAACP headquarters set up in the Walden Building at 28 Butler Street. It represented a $2.00 membership from every one of the club's fourteen members. The club members hope that by their example other Atlanta clubs will follow this week.
The United Singing Convention members joining the NAACP are: Mr. Grisson, Mrs. J. T. Grisson, Mrs. Elsie M. Trimble, A. J. Allen, Mrs. A. J. Allen, J. P. Wilson, King Ingram, Mrs. King Ingram, Willie Stodghill, Mrs. Willie Stodghill, Lewis McFarland, E. D. Tolbert, Mrs. E. D. Tolbert and Mrs. E. L. Whitfield.
