Full Text
We had the pleasure this morning of a visit from a distinguished democrat of Warren county, North Carolina, from whom we learn that the democracy of the "Old North" are up and doing, and will at their ensuing congressional elections render the best possible account of themselves—under the infamous gerrymandered arrangement of the districts. He states that Gen. J. R. J. Daniel, the present able representative from the old Halifax district, will undoubtedly be re-elected, although two candidates are running against him, as independent democrats, aided by the whigs. We have too much confidence in the sterling democracy of old Edgecombe, Franklin, Nash, and the home of Macon, good "old Warren," to doubt for a moment that they will vindicate the usages of the party and re-elect their worthy nominee.
