THE DREADFUL REVENGE OF A JEALOUS LOVER.

A letter from Presburg states that a short time since, the fine village of Falsoe, Tharkenay, in Germany, which contained 220 houses, was entirely consumed. The population consisted of 900 persons. Vengeance was the cause of its destruction. On a certain day was celebrated the marriage of a young girl, the daughter of a rich farmer, with the son of a farmer of that village. After the ball was over, which lasted until midnight, the newly married couple retired. A young man named Thelkey, who formerly made love to the young girl, newly married, having been disappointed, set fire to the house, which extended to the other houses in the village; and in less than three hours the whole village was consumed. More than 200 persons were burnt and about 300 mutilated; amongst them were found the newly married girl and her husband, dreadfully injured. The author of this dreadful crime, Charles Thelkey, is in the hands of justice, and owns his guilt with the greatest sang froid.
